Speed Training (hello Darth Vader breathing)

Well, tonight was an unexpected session of speed training. Since another Half Marathon is coming up this Sunday, I thought tonight would just be another easy run to just clock in the miles. But I tagged along Super Fast Handsome to do some speed training at KLCC park. Needless to say, my legs are jelly now but I am feeling awesome, the type of happy-awesome after a great workout of doing your best. So this was the routine Super Fast Handsome came up with:

85 yards x 4
110 yards x 4
50 yards x 8

Repeat the sequence.

All done at flat out sprint pace. The entire workout took us about almost an hour. This is probably too long as we were talking in between catching our breaths and led to some time wasting. A proper serious session of this should take about 30 - 40 minutes. This is by far my toughest speed session, I will definitely do this once a week.

But, to get better at this, I need to learn proper running techniques and running drills which help improve my form. This.takes.lots.of.practice. Note to self: pour over runners magazines and look for drills. Somehow I find drills challenging, because I can't see how my form is when I'm doing it, thus I don't know if I'm doing it right. I suppose practice makes perfect. But it would be good if someone could show me if I'm doing it right.

On a lighter note, Super Fast Handsome makes me run happIER, although I am gasping for air half the time, and I feel I sound like Darth Vader, but happier none the less :) Oh, by the way, he doesn't read this, so it's fine. I love running, but when you find someone special to run with, it's even nicer, no? I suppose that goes with everything you love in life, more meaningful when shared :)

Good night!
