Shoe Review: Nike Women's Flywire Span 14

Hi All!

I just bought a new pair of Nike running shoes. The previous one I owned, Bowerman series, was totally out of miles (i.e. soles falling apart). So I went in search of a new pair of running shoes. To be honest, I am a diehard Nike fan. I love, love, their products. Although, I still value my money, I'm not going to blow 200 bucks on a pair of shoes when I can get good quality shoes for half the price. So off I went hunting for a new pair.

I didn't bother looking at other brands (coz did I mention I love Nike? like crazy love) and also because I'm running with the Nike App + sensor thingy that records my distance. Although I am sure other brands have die hard fans too, well each to his own.

In a way, I like "traditional" looking running shoes, because from my own experience, all those modern jazz running shoes does not really give me the comfort I need. Especially so, when I am doing anything more than 10k. The first pair I tried was the Vomero +5 ( i think). It was a really hot colour (red) and dang, was it comfortable! I dare say the most comfortable pair of shoes I've tried on. But it was really pricey (RM519). Somehow it felt very "roomy" inside, kinda like my Bowerman. Which I like, but after a few miles, the lack of support at my arch would really get to me and I tend to overpronate.

By the way, I am not used to all these running lingo. I am just used to lacing up and hitting the pavements. That is, until I realised since this is something I want to do in the long run, I should take care of my running feet!

Anyways, next I tried on the Flywire Span 14. I have to say I love the arch support! It feels really good and snug, good kind of snug. And the cushioning in the shoe is good too! Not as "airy" as the Vomero (like running on air kinda feeling) but this was a more "solid" cushion kind of feeling. The very helpful salesman, asked me to try on the feet sizer to check my proper size. This is very helpful, it turns out I'm a size 7 and half US. All this while I have been wearing sizes US 7! So I would recommend everyone to use the chart and check their correct feet size. I bought the Flywire Span 14 for RM209 (half the price of Vomero!).

On my first run with my newbought treasure, I did 11 miles in it! Boy did the shoe perform well! No blisters, no pain at the end of my toes, and mostly comfort running with very good grip on my arch. Helps on the last few miles when you're really tired! I would definitely recommend this shoe to runners with medium-light arch and tend to overpronate! I'm even tempted to buy another pair just as a back-up!

I don't have a picture of it, but it looks some sort like it's predecessor here
